Dundee's Dominant Display Downs Aberdeen
Dundee Football Club secured their first Premiership win of the season with a convincing 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Dens Park. Steven Pressley's men were the better team throughout, with Joe Bevan and Joe Westley scoring the goals.
What Happened?
Dundee dominated the game from the start, with Bevan causing problems for the Aberdeen defense with his pace and skill. The hosts created several chances, but it was Westley who opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Bevan played a great cross for Westley to volley past Marius Muller.
Why It Matters for Dundee Football Club
This win is a significant boost for Dundee Football Club, who were unlucky to lose their opener against Celtic. The team's recent dominance against Aberdeen is also a positive sign, with this being their third win on the bounce against their North-east rivals.
What Comes Next?
Dundee will look to build on this momentum as they travel to Pittodrie in the Premier Sports Cup next week. They will face a tough test against Stephen Robinson's men, who will be looking to redeem themselves after this defeat.
Dundee's league standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way) is 9th in Premiership, with 33 points from 33 games, recent form WLWWL. They have scored 34 goals this season, conceding 53, with a goal difference of -19. They are 37 points behind leaders Heart Of Midlothian in the title race.
Go Westley
Westley's goal was a great example of his skill and determination. He had been on at Steven Pressley to play centre forward, and his goal showed why. He could have had a second when he got in between two defenders, but Muller made a fine block.
Dundee Wideos
The Dark Blues were by far the better team in the first half, with Bevan causing problems for the Aberdeen defense. He put in some great balls across the face, and his pace gave Nesta Guinness-Walker a major headache at left-back.
Dons Fans Hitting the Boos
The Red Army had sold out the Bill Shankly and their away allocation in the Main Stand. They were off it and second best, with chances in and around Owen Goodman's goal few and far between. The boos rang out from the away sections as their team headed back into the dressing room.
