Dundee Football Club secured a valuable 2-1 victory over Motherwell at home on Saturday. The win lifts them to sixth place in the Scottish Premiership with seven points from six matches.
Joe Westley opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. Bradley Fink doubled the lead seventeen minutes later, finishing from a Ryan Astley assist. Motherwell pulled one back just before half-time through Alex Lowry, but Dundee held on in the second half.
Manager Steven Pressley set his side up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Owen Goodman in goal. The team managed the game well despite having only 39 percent of possession. Goodman was booked for time-wasting in stoppage time, one of eight fouls committed by the hosts.
Pressley made four changes during the match, bringing on Joseph Bevan, Brad Halliday, Bobby Wales and Idris Odutayo. The result ends a run of two league games without a win and provides a boost ahead of the next fixture. Dundee's recent form now shows one win, two draws, and three losses from their opening six games.
Westley's goal was his second of the season, making him the club's top scorer. Dundee now look ahead to an away match against Falkirk on October 10. The full squad details and player statistics are available on our squad and stats pages.
