Dundee Football Club are considering signing two trialist midfielders to bolster their injury-hit squad ahead of a key Premiership match at Falkirk. Manager Steven Pressley confirmed he is running the rule over the pair as his side, currently fourth in the table, prepare for Saturday's fixture.

Steven Pressley said his squad is "significantly down in numbers" due to a series of long-term injuries. Captain Simon Murray, Finlay Robertson and Jack Moorhouse are all out for the season with cruciate knee ligament injuries, with Moorhouse having returned to parent club Manchester United for rehabilitation. Ryan Finnigan and Charlie Reilly are among several other players currently sidelined.

Trialists under scrutiny ahead of Falkirk clash

Pressley is evaluating the two midfielders in first-team training after they featured in a closed-door friendly against Hearts last week. The manager has not ruled out bringing one or both in before the weekend. "We had a couple of trialists in," Pressley told reporters. "We are still looking at the two players. We may still do something."

The need for reinforcements comes as Dundee aim to consolidate their position in the top half of the Premiership. They sit fourth with 10 points from seven games, having won three, drawn one and lost three. Their recent form reads WLDLW, with their last outing a 2-1 home victory over Motherwell in mid-September.

Returning players offer hope amid setbacks

There is some positive news on the injury front. Striker Ash Hay made a successful comeback in that friendly against Hearts and came through unscathed. New signing Joe Wright is also back in training after a hamstring injury and could be available for selection against Falkirk.

Pressley has been exploring options to strengthen his squad during the international break. Any decision on the trialists will be finalized before Dundee travel to face 11th-placed Falkirk this Saturday. The club's full squad list is available online.
